HAS Slumber Paw-ty Pet Adoption Event

Huntsville Animal Shelter

The Huntsville Animal Services Slumber Paw-ty combines the cozy fun of a pajama party with the meaningful mission of finding homes for shelter pets during National Clear the Shelters Month. Families are invited to come dressed in their comfiest patriotic pajamas for an evening celebration that helps dogs and cats find their forever homes. The event creates a relaxed, festive atmosphere where kids can meet adoptable animals while participating in freedom-themed activities and social media challenges that happen throughout the night.

  • What to expect: Even if your family isn't ready to adopt, you can still participate by learning about fostering opportunities or simply showing support for the animals and staff.

  • Perfect for: Families with children of any age who are interested in animals, though parents should prepare younger kids for the shelter environment, which can include barking and excited pets.

  • Pro tip: If you're seriously considering adoption, arrive earlier in the evening to allow plenty of time for the meet-and-greet process and paperwork.

  • Cost: FREE!

💡 My Weekend Picks

If I had to narrow it down…

  • HAS Slumber Paw-ty Pet Adoption Event - Although I am not planning on adopting another pet, who can resist loving on some furry friends? These animals deserve all the exposure they can get to find their furever homes!

  • 2026 City Lights & Stars: Calypso Vision - Outdoor music and beachy vibes… I’m in! City Lights & Stars never disappoints!

  • Outdoor Market - There are always cool things to find at Lowe Market! This is one of those places where browsing always leads to great conversation and sometimes new friends!

That’s it for this week.

📝 Before You Head Out:

Friday’s Burritt concert moves to the covered Bendickson Family Pavilion if rain threatens, so check before you load up the chairs. Saturday’s trail build starts at 8:30 AM, so closed-toe shoes, long pants, and plenty of water.

Know about something we missed? Hit reply and tell me. If you end up at any of these, come say hi! I’ll be the dad in pajamas at the shelter hauling a folding chair up to Burritt later.

Happy adventuring,

Ryan 🚀
